Telford postbox explosion: Replacement box back in use
Residents and businesses can now use a postbox that was replaced after an explosion that resulted in householders being evacuated.
About 20 people living close to to the letterbox in Sinclair Gardens, in Telford, had to leave their homes after two blasts were heard on November 30.
The box was replaced within weeks by Royal Mail, but customers were unable to use it until a time plate was fitted.
Councillor Amrik Jhawar, ward member for Ketley and Oakengates, said: "The box is ready for use. It has got a time plate and the collection times on it. We're pleased to see this important facility back in service."
Letters and packages posted by customers were left strewn on the ground when the previous postbox was attacked leaving the door blown about 15 yards away.
The incident is being linked to another crime where fireworks were set off in a wheelie bin nearby.
Police investigators found powder residue, consistent with fireworks in the bin, which exploded in Red Lees off Waterloo Road shortly before the postbox was blown up.
