Ironbridge Power Station social club up for sale at £850,000
A former social club once used by Ironbridge Power Station workers has been placed on the market for £850,000.
Abbot's House in Buildwas is described as a "substantial period building" located on the banks of the River Severn. The Grade I-listed property was most recently used as a social club and venue for events associated with the former power station.
The property sits in an elevated position with a section of the River Severn bordering its grounds.
Gardens and woodland surround the premises with sections of the English Heritage-maintained Buildwas Abbey immediately adjacent and within the grounds.
Anthony Wiggins, who is marketing the property on behalf of private clients, said: "This is a much-loved building within the area that has played host over the years to many family events and we are delighted to be able to offer it to the market.
"The premises perhaps lends itself to continued use as a leisure facility and is overdue, subject to appropriate permissions, for an upgrade after many years maintenance by the authorities at the power station. We feel it may be suitable as a stunning wedding location or conference facility with accommodation."
The power station closed in November 2015 and is now being decommissioned.
