Plans for Whitchurch anaerobic digester to be discussed next week
Discussions about plans to build an anaerobic digester on the outskirts of a town are due to take place next week.
Fresh plans for the plant at Broughall Fields Farm, Whitchurch, are to be discussed at a meeting of Shropshire Council’s north planning committee in Shirehall in Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
They were due to be discussed at last month's committee meeting, however the application was deferred until next week's meeting.
Following last month's meeting, campaigners against the plans claimed they were deferred due to a legal argument.
Under the amended plans, there will be a 65 per cent increase in feedstock used to power the plant, which will generate a peak of 2.55MW of electricity per hour.
The council's planning officers have recommended the plans be approved, subject to conditions.
The scheme, put forward by Whitchurch Biogas Ltd, has come under fire from residents because of fears of the impact on the environment and traffic.
