Mark Woodliff, 38, of Hawthorne Grove in Oswestry, went to bed at about 9pm on January 26.

At about midnight, his father, Graham, heard the television on in his room and went to check on him.

He found him on the bed.

An ambulance was called but Mr Woodliff had died, the inquest – opening in Shrewsbury – was told. The hearing was adjourned until July 18.

Following his death tributes poured in for Mr Woodliff for always doing his job with a smile on his face. His father described him as ‘the life and soul of the party’. Known by many as ‘Woody’, he enjoyed a night out with his friends, often making them laugh with his dance moves. Over the years he also enjoyed holidays all over the world including America, Thailand, Mexico and Greece – even taking six months’ sabbatical from his job to work in Greece.

He leaves his parents Graham and Diane, brothers and sisters Sonia, Adrian and Leanda and their partners, and his nieces and nephews Georgia, Devon, Harry, Lola, Brandon, Layla, Lydia, Jackson, Broday and Theo, and great-nephew Cody.
