Ellesmere's 'disgusting' tap water cleaned up

A problem that left Ellesmere's tap water "disgusting" has been resolved.

Residents had complained that the town's tap water tasted wrong and that it had to be filtered before they could drink it.

However, the problems have now been resolved, according to resident Lincoln McMullan.

He said: "Severn Trent phoned me up and they were very good about it. They asked me what was wrong with it. They sent someone out to test it and then two weeks later they did the same again.

"They adjusted the levels and found that there was an extra problem in the Market Hall. It was that the water was being sent to the tank and then the tank not being used enough.

"They sorted it out and now it bypasses the tank and there haven't been any problems since."

Mr McMullan said he first reported the issue a few years ago but things seemed to improve swiftly. Then the issue resurfaced again recently.

He added: "We are just really happy that it has been sorted. We were having to filter it and buy bottled water – just to make a cup of tea.

"Now we can drink it, it is fine. Severn Trent were really very good, we do need to thank them. They sent someone out immediately and have checked it again since."
