Ex-Wolves director Kevin Threlfall chips in with £30,000 to golf club where his life was saved
He was saved by two golfers while out on the course - now former Wolves director Kevin Threlfall has returned to the club with a kind donation.
Mr Threlfall was at South Staffordshire Golf Club in Tettenhall when he fell to the floor in 2014. His heart stopped and two other golfers, Stephen Woodward and Martin Knowles, immediately started CPR.
They also attached a defibrillator and delivered two shocks before paramedics worked to revive him.
Fortunately, after being taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, the 68-year-old Supercigs founder regained his pulse and was back on his feet a week later.
Today, three years on, Mr Threlfall has donated £30,000 toward the building of a halfway house at the golf club.
The house also features a plaque, in memory to the the two men who saved his life on the course.
He said: "It is a big part of my life now - this golf course.
"The plaque is in memory to those people who saved me. I wouldn't be here without them."
Club shop manager Ian Guest was among the people who came to his aid.
After Mr Woodward and Mr Knowles has given mouth-to-mouth and chest compressions, Mr Guest came out with the club's defibrillator.
He said: "It was a big incident at the club, everyone is thankful Kevin pulled through."
He added: "It's a kind gesture from Kevin to provide the half way house.
"It is a great facility which will be of much use to the golfers as they make their way around the course."
The halfway house is next to the tenth hole and replaces a shelter. It features a kitchen and toilets, while a watering fountain is also provided.
The club's defibrillator is stored in the club's foyer.
