The Met Office has warned of localised flooding form Wednesday morning which could cause disruptions on the roads.

A yellow weather warning is now in place following some tropical conditions in the county - which saw temperatures reach over 30C over the weekend for events such as the Shrewsbury Half Marathon and Shrewsbury Carnival.

So for now it looks as though we can say goodbye to the sunshine, until at least after the weekend.

The Met Office said: "Bouts of rain, heavy and thundery at times, will move in from the west to affect parts of southern Scotland and northern England from the early hours of Wednesday.

"More extensive thunderstorms may then break out over a larger part of England and Wales from late Wednesday afternoon onwards into Wednesday night, leading to torrential downpours, frequent lightning and a chance of hail.

"This could result in some disruption, more likely from late Wednesday afternoon, which may include sudden localised flooding of transport routes, homes and businesses."

Met Office forecast

Tomorrow will still remain hot, with temperatures keeping at around highs of 26C.

Temperatures will drop significantly on Thursday as we only reach highs of 16C and they will remain low all through the weekend.

On Monday the Met Office has issued the second highest heatwave alert for all of Britain as the country endures some extreme heat.

The level three amber heatwave warning is one behind a national emergency.
