Drive launched to recruit 10 new Shropshire firefighters
Shropshire fire chiefs are looking to recruit 10 new full-time firefighters.
Applications are being taken by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service from people living in Shropshire and Powys, as well as Wrexham, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands and Cheshire.
Shropshire’s chief fire officer, Rod Hammerton, said: "Keeping the people of Shropshire safe and well is our top priority and that involves our firefighters interacting with Shropshire’s varied and diverse communities more closely and more often in many different ways than ever before.
"Working as a firefighter is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling of jobs and we welcome applications from all candidates of the surrounding areas who seek a career in the fire service as we want our firefighters to reflect the rich and varied diversity of the communities they serve."
The service, which has recently won a series of awards for its support of dyslexic employees, says it welcomes applications from dyslexic candidates but they must provide evidence prior to sitting the first online written test.
Anyone who has a pending application with another brigade will not be eligible to apply for the Shropshire posts. Successful candidates will also be expected to undertake a basic Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.
The window for applying is open from 10am on January 29 to 6pm on February 4.
No applications will be accepted after this date.
