Fiona Bruce and her team from the Antiques Roadshow will be setting up camp in Erddig near Wrexham, and people in the area are being asked to dust off their family heirlooms and dig out their car boot items for valuations.

The show, which is celebrating its fourth decade, has visited other National Trust properties in Wales in the past, and general manager Jamie Watson is pleased to be welcoming the upcoming event on July 26.

He said: "We’re delighted that once again, BBC Antiques Roadshow has chosen another one of our special places in Wales for this series.

“From country houses, to coastal walks and countryside spaces, we pride ourselves on a warm Welsh welcome, which I’m sure the team will enjoy when they visit Erddig in summer.”

The country house is on the North Wales Shropshire border, and dates back to the 17th century.

The last owner, Philip Yorke III inherited the crumbling building from his brother, and with none of them every marrying, he gave the property to the National Trust, who took over in 1973.

On show on the day will be some of Erddig's collection of 30,000 items, including a Delft Vase which Queen Mary, during her visit in 1921, dropped hints to Louisa Yorke that she’d very much like to take the vase home.

Robert Murphy, series producer of Antiques Roadshow, added: “We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of visitors when we bring Antiques Roadshow to Erddig.

“It’s a much-loved property with great character and we’re looking forward to seeing cherished objects and hearing personal stories from the people of Wales and beyond.

“It’s a great free, family day out and you can see how we make one of BBC One’s most popular programmes."

Doors open at 9.30am and close at 4.30pm. Entry to the show is free, everyone is welcome, and no tickets or pre-registration is required.
