Woman injured as road near Oswestry closed by crash

A woman was injured and road near Oswestry closed today after a car crashed in the snowy conditions.

Emergency services were called to the B5070 in Chirk, near to the Poachers Pocket pub, at 9.15am to a single vehicle crash.

West Mercia Police, West Midland Ambulance Service and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Crews from Wellington and Oswestry were called to the scene.

The ambulance service attended with one paramedic, a paramedic officer and a community first responder treating a woman in her 20s, who was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "On arrival crews discovered a car on its roof and one patient, a woman in her 20s, who required treatment.

"The patient, a woman, was fully conscious and managed to get herself out of the vehicle. She was treated for back pain and taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment."

No-one was trapped in the vehicle.
