West Mercia Police begin recruitment of 100 new police officers
The recruitment of 100 new police officers for the area has started.
West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said he hoped the officers could be ready to start work next year.
Mr Campion said that the new jobs would not be affected by the decision to end West Mercia's strategic alliance with neighbouring force Warwickshire, which was taken last week.
He said: “I made a promise to the communities that I would not only ensure a great proportion of the money they contribute towards policing would be spent on the frontline, but I also said I would do that by bringing in an additional 100 officers.
“I am committed to delivering on that promise despite what the future may hold regarding the alliance. These officers will be based in West Mercia and will ensure our communities are getting the service they need. I would encourage anyone who has a keen and driven attitude to apply.”
