Police were called to reports of problems at the Boathouse in New Street, Porthill, shortly after 9.45pm on December 6.

Mrs Sarah Jones, prosecuting, said when the officers arrived efforts were made to give defendant William Longhurst a lift home to resolve the situation, but he failed to calm down and was arrested.

The court heard he had finished his shift, but remained at the premises drinking.

"At one point he told the officers 'I will fight you all' and they eventually detained him," Mrs Jones said.

Mitigating for himself Longhurst, who has similar convictions dating to 2010, told the court: "I know that I have to change my ways. This is a new year and a fresh start.

"Due to being drunk and disorderly I have lost my job. My partner has five children who I've taken on and I want to be there for them."

Longhurst, of Whitchurch Road in Ditherington, Shrewsbury, was fined £253 for the offence, ordered to pay costs £135 and victims' surcharge £30.
