Shropshire weather: Magic of a misty, moisty morning - with weekend forecast
It was a foggy day over the Shropshire/Powys border into Mid Wales as the New Year moved into its second day.
As the dust settled on the New Year’s celebration, the mist dropped near to the border in Welshpool and Newtown.
Visibility was an issue for drivers as well as workers along the Newtown Bypass, which is nearing the end of its multi-million construction. Work started back in 2015, after decades of planning and lobbying for the road to be built.
Photographer Jamie Ricketts was out on the Mid Wales roads capturing the misty scenes.
Tonight will see a dry and generally cloudy night, but where the cloud does break, it will become cold, with some patchy freezing fog in places by morning. Minimum temperature -3 °C.
On Saturday any fog will gradually clear and it will be a bright if rather cloudy day. Late in the afternoon some patchy drizzle may develop, mainly in the west. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
It will be milder on Sunday, but it is likely to be cloudy with the odd spot of drizzle.
