The Met Office says there is only an outside chance of light drizzle, with a maximum temperature a relatively mild 8C (46F) today, dropping to 3C (37F) as we move into 2020.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill warned it would be a chilly end to 2019, despite the recent mild daytime temperatures across the UK.

“There will be a bit of a north-south split to the weather,” he said. “It will stay largely clear in the north, and the cloud and rain in the south should clear up. You will need a coat and take precautions because of possible fog in the early hours.”

Attingham Park. outside Shrewsbury. is among the many Shropshire outdoor attractions expecting crowds tomorrow as people seek fresh air after seeing the new year in. The mild and dry weather is also being welcomed by Shrewsbury Golf Club, which has had to cope with recent heavy rainfall.

The mild spell across Shropshire has come courtesy of warm air from Africa.

It has led to unseasonably weather, with double digit temperatures in many parts of our region at times. The trend is set to continue well into next week.
