Remembrance Sunday falls on November 10 this year, a day before Armistice Day – when the guns of WW1 finally fell silent at 11am on November 11, 1918.
Across the country events are being held for both days, with some towns pulling out all the stops with parades and road closures, while other towns are holding more subdued remembrances.
On Sunday, November 10, a parade will leave Shrewsbury Castle at 10.30 am and end at the War Memorial in the Quarry, where a short service will be held at 10:50 am.
The parade route includes Castle Gates, Pride Hill, Shoplatch, St John's Hill, and St Chad's Terrace.
On Armisitice Day on Monday, November 11, there will be a two-minute silence at the War Memorial at 11am followed by the mayor laying a wreath as part of a short ceremony.
