Shrewsbury Christmas lights switch on and Carols in the Square dates announced - find out when and where

Dates for Shrewsbury’s Christmas Lights switch on and Carols in the Square have been announced as the county town gears up for the festive season.

The lights switch on has been confirmed to take place on Wednesday, November 20.

A Shrewsbury Town Council spokesman said: “Come and join us for the start of the festive period at Shrewsbury's annual Christmas Light Switch On taking place on Wednesday, November 20 in The Square, Shrewsbury. Entertainment from 4.30pm with the lights being switched on at 6:30pm.”

Carols in the Square will take place on Wednesday, December 18 at the same location.

A spokeswoman said: “Tune in for a magical evening on December 18 at 7pm. 

“Join us live in The Square or listen to the broadcast on Radio Shropshire as the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir spreads festive cheer with traditional carols and holiday favourites. 

“Gather with friends, family, and the community to sing along and celebrate the spirit of the season. 

“Whether you're in The Square or listening from home, don't miss this joyful occasion to enjoy the magic of Christmas with the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir!”

Carols in the Square was the brainchild of local magazine editor Katy Rink and festival organiser Beth Heath, and was adopted up and down the country.
