Firefighters from Wellington rushed to Station Road, in Wrockwardine Wood, at 3.43pm to reports of a fire in the open.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said it was a 'fire involving an out of control bonfire, that spread to fence panels.'

The crew used two hose reel jets and small gear to extinguish.

They sent their incident stop message at 4.01pm.

Earlier in the afternoon, crews were called out to a barn fire at the A528, at Burlton, near Shrewsbury.

Two fire appliances including the water carrier and the water rescue unit were mobilised from Baschurch, Shrewsbury and Wem with an operations officer.

When they got to the scene they found it was in fact a controlled burn.

They 'gave advice' to the owner and sent their incident stop message at 12.53pm.
