It is the project's eleventh year and they had some 2,000 children from some 13 schools discovering their creativity.

North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan presented certificates during an exhibition of around 114 of the works in the main hall of the Grove School in Market Drayton on Saturday.

Mrs Morgan said she was 'astonished' at the young people's art.

“They have produced the most brilliant pieces of art,” said Mrs Morgan.

The hall was filled with an excited atmosphere of chatter as Mrs Morgan admitted to being “more of a numbers person” than an artist.

Elspeth Talbot, aged 16, from Grove Secondary School was 'pleased and happy' to be a winner among winners.

The GCSE art student had painted her own sheep named Mater, Dizzy and Daffodill.

Organiser Suzanne Edwards said the children are excited to find out that they can paint and draw at workshops.

“They come into our workshops saying that they can't paint.

“They are so thrilled with what they can achieve.”

The project produces a calendar and is all about the process with money raised going to buy art materials in a virtuous circle.

Malcolm Hague, the project's artist, said it had been a pleasure to see the students.
