Knighton Carnival committee will be hosting a bonfire and fireworks evening tonight (Friday, November 8) – but organisers say the future of the summer event is in jeopardy without more volunteers.

There will also be a make a guy competition with a first prize of £15, second prize of 310 and third prize of £5.
Entries must be taken to CCF at Knighton by 11am on November 8.
Parking will be available at CCF,IridiumDirect and Benson’s Yard, no parking on the field.
Entry will be £6 for adults, £3 for primary and secondary school children and £20 for a family ticket for two adults and two children. Admission will be cash and card, the bar will also take cash and cards but the burger van will take cash only.
All proceeds from the event will go towards funding the 2025 show and carnival.
Knighton Show Secretary Louise Hardwick said; “We are eternally grateful to our amazing volunteers - however if we don't get more people power, our show will be in jeopardy!
“In order for our show to continue we are in desperate need of volunteers to come and support - our stalwart committee members and volunteers have a limit as to what they can do, if even a few more people committed to an hour a month to attend meetings and help to create the show you want to have, then it would help enormously.
“Currently we need volunteers for our horticultural/craft committee – it would involve a commitment of approximately five meetings a year - about an hour each. Help is needed to organise the show hall entries, prepare and plan for the day.”
She said they also need help for the main carnival on the day including stewards to monitor and direct traffic on the field during set up and then once the show has closed, help with setting up and to direct vendors to their pitches, handing out schedules/maps, gate staff, stewards to support with processions (day and night), help with organising and running kid's races, support with litter picking and litter bins overflow on the day and day after and help to pack away after the show which takes place the day after.
Anyone who can help should email knightonshowsecretary@gmail.com or call 07805722237 to offer your support.
Or pop along to the annual general meeting and next committee meeting on Thursday, November 21 at 7.30pm at The RAFA Club Knighton.
