Councillor Andy Boddington normally keeps those on his mailing list regularly updated with news, views and musings on all things Ludlow and beyond.
But Councillor Boddington's newsletter has been absent from email inboxes for quite a while, although he has been active on social media.
Councillor Boddington explained the gap in a news-packed update on Tuesday when he opined on Shropshire Council's financial woes, plans for a biochar unit in the town, the state of the local buses and everything else worthy of note from his council ward and beyond.
He explained that he had been absent because of a long visit to another kind of ward, one in hospital.
Councillor Boddington said: “There has been a long and unexpected gap between newsletters, for which my apologies.
“A nasty bug in my foot and the drugs used to fight it conspired to fry my brain for weeks.
“All is now resolved after a week in Hereford County Hospital, from which I emerged missing a little toe.
“Thanks to my friends, GP staff and staff at the hospital for helping me through a painful period.
“Now I am catching up with what has been a very busy period in the council world.”
And the active elected member couldn't help but mention the woes that Shropshire Council is in.
“While in hospital, I listened to several episodes of the Navy Lark, a radio comedy about a hapless crew staggering from crisis to crisis. Somehow it reminded me of Shropshire Council,” he said.
On Facebook the councillor also revealed a new nickname for himself... Nine Toed Bodders.
