Tyler Davies Tait, aged 22, told magistrates in Telford he would lose his job if his licence was revoked after he was caught driving under the influence in Shrewsbury on May 4 this year.

However, sentencing guidelines meant that magistrates had no choice but to strip him of his licence for 12 months.

The court was told that police stopped Davies Tait in a Volkswagen Polo on Oteley Road at around 11.30pm with another friend in the car.

A roadside drug swipe was carried out, which proved positive. Davies Tait was arrested and taken into custody.
