Magistrates heard how Emma Roberts found the break up of her relationship with her husband of seven years Harry Roberts difficult to deal with emotionally and lashed out online.

The 41-year-old of Townsend Close, Ludlow, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court for sentencing on Wednesday after pleading guilty earlier this year to one count of online harassment without violence over a five month period in 2023-24 and another count of sending a threatening message.

Sara Beddow, prosecuting, said the couple had been married for seven years and had two children before the relationship broke down.

“She sent abusive messages and made posts aimed at damaging his business as a master thatcher,” said Ms Beddow.

“He used his Facebook page to promote his business.”

The actions Roberts took included deleting her husband's mobile phone number from his Facebook page, deleting his web page link and other contact details.

“She alleged domestic abuse and infidelity,” said Ms Beddow.

“On September 15 she sent a threatening email saying 'you will be screwed when you know what I have on you.”
