Howey Women's Institute quiz night attracted groups from across the local area
Howey Women’s Institute held its annual quiz night, in the midst of the ongoing refurbishment of Howey Village Hall, which was already an excellent venue.
The event was well attended and supported by other WI groups from Radnorshire, including Llanyre, Rhayader, Aberedw, Nantmel, Newbridge on Wye, and one brave male guest from Southern Ireland.
The quiz Master Liz Watkins ably supported by two checker recorders, Marion and Kim, ensured the night went at a brisk and humorous pace, covering questions on history, geography, music, food and drink, nature, TV and movies, general knowledge and ending with a “fun with flags” round.
So there was something for everyone.
Jokers were played with varying degrees of success before and after the supper which included optional wine and soft drinks, all provided by the Howey hosts.
The eventual winning teams were, in first place Nantmel WI, second was the Howey A team. Joint third place went to the team from Newbridge-on-Wye, and the Howey B team.
We will not record the winners of the wooded spoon.
All in all, a most enjoyable evening. Look out for next year’s quiz, as all teams will be ensured of a warm welcome and some excellent hospitality.
