The Cross Fountain, in Oswestry, was demolished when a van crashed into it in May 2023.

Gifted to the town in 1862, the fountain was part of a national philanthropic movement for installing public drinking fountains when the connection was made between clean drinking water and public health.

For 20 years the Italian-style fountain served the town centre before being relocated to Caste Bank, but in 2006 it was restored by local conservation company CBS Ltd and relocated back to its original home.

In May 2023, the fountain was knocked down by a van in a crash that left three people injured, one seriously.
