Keiran Dixon admitted aggravated vehicle taking and burglary at Pen Y Banc, Yew Tree Close, Crossgates on November 11 2023, when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 21 year-old of Sefton Drive, Bury had been working at the property for about a month before the incident and used the spare keys they had been told to use for the toilet, to gain entry and take the car keys.

Prosecuting, Mr James Ashton said Dixon and a co-defendant had been working at Mr and Mrs Thomas’ property for a month and they were there the day before the burglary.

He said they used the spare key, which they knew about because they used it to access the toilet, and they took the car keys for the Skoda and then went on a ‘joy ride’.

They were seen doing doughnuts and the car crashed into two other vehicles on a car park, one car was shunted into another. It was located.

Mr Ashton said there was a 10 year-old child in the house at the time of the burglary, which was conducted at night and Dixon was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs at the time.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction of the case and sent it to Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on December 3.

Dixon remains on unconditional bail until that date and an interim driving ban was imposed.
