Toilet fires: Police say two south Shropshire arsons 'may be linked'

At a blaze in the Severn Street public toilet block in Low Town, Bridgnorth on Thursday, October 31 extensive damage was caused to a baby changing facility.

The second incident on Sunday, November 3 the men’s public toilet on New Road in Much Wenlock was extensively damaged and has been closed for the foreseeable future for repairs.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Officers investigating two suspected arsons in South Shropshire are appealing for witnesses after two public toilets were damaged following fires.

“The first incident was reported to police on Thursday October 31 at around 5pm, and happened in Low Town, Bridgnorth.

“The fire caused extensive damage to the baby changing facility in the block, which is now having to be replaced.

“The second incident happened on Sunday November 3 at around 4.35pm in the men’s public toilet on New Road in Much Wenlock.

“The fire caused extensive damage to the toilet block, resulting it having to be closed for the foreseeable future for repairs.

No one has been arrested in connection with the fires, which may be linked, and enquiries are ongoing.
