The plan will see more than 100 wholly-owned but loss-making Post Offices, known as Crown Post Offices, either sold off or closed.
But a spokesperson for the Post Office told the Shropshire Star that the Crown Post Offices mentioned in the transformation plan could still remain open, by being sold to a franchise holder.
The Post Office said it will continue to work through the details of the transformation plan with colleagues, postmasters, strategic partners and organisations that represent postmasters to refine the plan and implement the changes required to transform the business.
The Post Office added that most of its 11,500 branches will not be impacted by the transformation plan but there is one Crown Post Office in Shropshire that could be.
Oswestry Post Office is mentioned on the plan along with around 115 Crown Post Office across the UK.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “We are considering a range of options to reduce our central costs. This includes considering the future of our remaining Directly Managed Branches, which are loss-making. We have long held a publicly-stated ambition to move to a fully franchised network and we are in dialogue with the unions about future options for the DMBs.”
