Jamie Ian Edwards told Telford Magistrates Court that he was not sure whether he could keep his job making building materials out of aluminium because he starts at 7am and public transport will not be able to get him from Shrewsbury to Oswestry in time.
The court was told on Tuesday that the 48 year old of Whitehouse Gardens, Shrewsbury was stopped driving a Ford Fiesta on the A458 at Ford, near the county town at 10.20am on July 12, 2024.
Police recorded that his pupils were small and his skin was pale. A blood test revealed a reading of 369 of the cocaine derivative benzoylecgonine in his blood when the legal limit is 50.
He also had methadone and morphine in his system but these were below the limit.
Edwards pleaded guilty to drug driving.
Magistrates advised Edwards to go to his GP for help for his drug problems before handing down a fine and a driving ban.
Edwards was fined £120 and banned from driving for 15 months.
He was also told to pay a victims surcharge of £48 and prosecution costs of £85.
