Shrewsbury & West Shropshire's branch of the Campaign for Real Ale say they are ready to support the Three Fishes at Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, when it reopens.

A statement on the SAWS Camra Facebook page said that owners Black Country Ales have stated that they intend to carry on with the refurbishment and reopening of the Three Fishes and have put their members on alert.

“More power to them!” says the spokesperson for the group in response to the brewer's intention.

“Inevitably, it's going to take a while, so let's be ready to support the pub when it reopens.”

Black Country Ales only brought the pub a few days before a lorry ploughed into the pub on the A49.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Following the recent excitement of announcing our acquisition of the Three Fishes pub in Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, we are saddened to report an unfortunate incident where a lorry collided with the building.

“The structural damage is significant, and this will delay our planned refurbishment and opening.”
