A statement said: "All Transport for Wales services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International will now terminate at Wolverhampton.”
It said that the disruption would start tomorrow (Saturday) and run until Friday, but stopped short of guaranteeing a resumption of services after that date.
Passengers attempting to get to Birmingham will be forced to change to a different train operator at Wolverhampton.
A spokesman said: "Customers should check with rail staff and use the next available service for onward journeys.
"This is due to a fleet shortage owing to a number of trains undergoing heavy maintenance exams and autumn-related repairs. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused and we are working hard to minimise disruption to customers. Please check before you intend to travel."
The company said that passengers for Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International can use their tickets at no extra cost on West Midlands Railway, CrossCountry and Avanti West Coast services.
