Within the small communities who live in the countryside or secluded areas, there is usually a place which acts as the community hub and a place for people to congregate at.
It's a place for celebrations and commiserations, to enjoy life and pay tribute to those no longer with us, to enjoy a chat and have a drink.
The Bridges in Ratlinghope is a place which has become the centre of the community, nestling on the western edge of the Long Mynd and very popular with visitors by car and on foot.
The pub has been in the hamlet for a couple of hundred years and, over time, has been a shop and a blacksmiths, but has been most famous as a pub, most notably as part of the Three Tuns Brewery estate.
Now in private ownership as part of the Linley Estate, the Bridges has undergone a refurbishment this year, but still carries a lot of the older character, with a spacious, airy dining area, a small snug/bar and another pleasant room overlooking the garden.
Outside, there is a plentiful array of tables at the front, overlooking the River East Onny as well as a secluded rear garden sitting alongside the Darnford Brook.
