'Battery Box' planned to bring renewable power revolution to a grassy spot in Newport
A 'clean energy' company is planning to place one of its battery boxes on a site near Newport's swimming and fitness centre.

The box would be about 24 square metres, which is about the size of two car parking spaces, and be placed on a vacant grassy area next to the carpark.
AMP Clean Energy, based in London, says the 200kW (800kWhr) Energy Storage System would take in power from solar panels when the sun shines and wind turbines when the wind blows.
The batteries would then let power go during periods of high demand.
