Many parts of the country woke up to their first taste of winter this morning following yesterday's warnings for icy weather

With many roads under a couple of inches, several schools in the region have decided to shut - resulting in a snow day for students.

The yellow weather warning for snow and ice was in place across Shropshire until 11am on Tuesday.

It's not all that often Shropshire gets a covering - so we've been out and about taking photographs and compiling some of yours.
