In pictures: Newport photographers show off their skills
Newport Photographic Club has started its new season of events and competitions.

Meetings in October included a talk from the nationally known landscape photographer, Mark Gilligan.
He showed members some fabulous pictures taken from many locations in the UK and abroad and described his techniques and processes for achieving these results.
Vice chairman, Alastair Taylor gave a talk on creating audio visual presentations and showed us some AVs from the recent Royal Photographic Society championships.
The first competition of the season was the Chair’s Challenge, set by chair, Mike Warrender.
His theme was “picture this” and the aim was to produce a picture which reflected the lyrics or title of a song.
Songs by the Beatles, Adele, Madona and Jimi Hendrix featured in the line up.
The competition was run in two sections, Advanced and Intermediate
The winners were:
Advanced: He Ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother by Howard Broadbent, Red Red Wine, also by Howard Broadbent, There’s Whisky in the Jar by Alan Fowler, Eleanor Rigby by Richard Greswell.
Intermediate: You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Any More by Stephen Haycock, These Boots were made for ... by John Ridgway, Ring My Bell, also by John Ridgway, Lili Marlene by Harry Cheadle and Spaceman by Yvette Humphrys.
The club is set to have a visit from Lyndsey Bucknor this minth, providing a tutorial evening on Photoshop and Lightroom.
