A Powys town council’s audit is within the top 5 per cent of all 730 councils in Wales.

Builth Wells Town Council accounts were sent off for the in-depth three year audit by Audit Wales.

At a recent meeting, town clerk Louise Hammond said they had now reported back that there were no issues with the council’s accounts, no comments were made and everything was passed.

Louise said: “I am really pleased because it was the three year audit.”

Councillor Mark Hammond explained that only the top five per cent out of 730 Welsh councils receive that conclusion.

“So it was an extraordinary piece of work by Louise to get there,” he said.

Builth Wells Mayor Councillor Gwyn Davies agreed and said Louise had worked very hard on the accounts. The council thanked Louise for her exemplary work.
