This year, Shifnal Town Council and Love Shifnal enlisted the team behind Shrewsbury Food Festival and OktoberFest - Shropshire Festivals - to organise their annual Christmas lights switch on.
From 1pm, Santa set up shop in the town and live music and stalls filled the high street, despite the country receiving a battering from Storm Bert.
The same could not be said for the scheduled Christmas lights switch on over in Ironbridge, that was postponed after the forecast came in on Friday.
On Saturday morning, the Shifnal Town Council and Love Shifnal confirmed the event was going ahead and urged people to "wrap up super warm" to come and support the event.
"We are British after all," said a spokesperson for Love Shifnal, "and there's plenty of mulled wine and hot chocolate to keep you going!"
