Flood warnings and alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency across Shropshire.

The updates come after a series of heavy downpours and winds battered the county over the weekend.

The village of Gobowen suffered serious flooding while canoeists experienced difficulties in Ironbridge.

National Highways closed the A49 in both directions between Church Stretton and Holmer and car parks were closed in Shrewsbury due to rising water levels.

By Monday, the A49 had reopened but Frankwell Riverside and main car parks remained closed.

Flood barriers have been erected in Bewdley and Tenbury Wells became submerged under a feet of water.

The Environment Agency tweeted: "Flood Alerts and Warnings remain in place across the Midlands as Storm Bert continues to bring heavy rain to parts of the UK.

"River levels in the Midlands are expected to stay high over the next few days. Our field team has been out today deploying  our demountable flood barrier in #Bewdley."
