The 80th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe will take place on May 8 2025.
Town clerk Liz Kelso told councillors at a recent meeting; “Many towns and parishes are marking that day, which falls on a Thursday, with special events.
“There have been no requests for an event to celebrate VE Day 2025 so far in Kington. Please note that such events do take some organisation and will need to be accounted for in the budget for the next financial year.
“Please let me know if you would like to consider an event to mark this anniversary.”
Members heard that national beacons were likely to be a feature of the commemoration again and they said they would like to mark the occasion.
