A Christmas fayre will also take place on Saturday – after just 17 days’ notice
An event already planned for the day fell through at the last minute.
It left a lot of people within the community disappointed, and many stallholders had blocked this date in their calendars.
Having caught wind of the disappointment, a group of local people and businesses decided to see if they could pull a Christmas Event from the mire.
KDM Local, Lakeside Boathouse and the Metropole Hotel got together and have received lots of offers of help.
A Christmas-Themed Community “Get-Together” brought under the banner of “Llandrindod Community Events” has been planned.
There will be about 60 stalls, a mini food-court, choirs, blow-up decorations, characters such as Elsa, Olaf, Mickey Mouse and a visit from Santa, thanks to the Round Table.
Fuelled By Cake will be running best Christmas jumper competitions, Pontin's Electricals has sponsored a best decorated and best illuminated stall competitions and nearby establishments such as Arvon Ales, the Log Cabin, the Con Club and the Metropole will be open and supporting the event which is taking place on Temple Gardens, and within the Metropole Hotel.
Nicole Stevens will be running a raffle with lots of donated prizes, raising money for Mid Powys Mind.
Many local independent traders will also be extending their Saturday opening hours to coincide with the event.
A spokesperson for Llandrindod Community Events said; “So on the back of a sad announcement, the town has come together as one to bring a brilliant community event to the area.”
Meanwhile, there will be Carols on the Bandstand event on Friday, December 13 from 6pm until 7pm.
The council’s festive lighting committee will be hosting the event with the Bracken Trust Singers.
There will be mulled wine and mince pies and carol sheets will be available.
