The 48-hour order was put in place from Saturday evening to yesterday (Monday) evening after a “large” group of young people were “behaving anti-socially”.
Safer Neighbourhood Inspector Ben Stephens said: “The dispersal order we issued for Southwater over the weekend was a preventative measure in response to a large group of young people behaving anti-socially on Friday evening.
“The order gives our officers extra powers to exclude people from certain areas if required. I’m pleased to report that the order deterred the youths from congregating again over the weekend and no action was required by officers.
“We’re constantly working to prevent and tackle anti-social behaviour, and over the past six months we have carried out a significant number of additional targeted patrols in Southwater. These additional patrols and increased police visibility will continue over the Christmas period and into New Year.”
