National Highways crews are carrying out safety improvements to the bends and junctions along the A49 between Woofferton and Llandinabo.
Work includes replacing roadside signage, the renewal of road markings and installing new traffic bollards. The carriageway will also be resurfaced at Dinmore Hill.
It's thought work will continue into spring 2025, with the teams working overnight and phased closures put in place.
The work will take place from Monday to Friday between 8pm and 6am, beginning in Hereford on November 18.
From December 10 to January 17, the A49 will be closed between Woofferton and Stockton, near Leominster. A diversion will be put in place pointing drivers towards Tenbury Wells and Burford.
From January 20 to January 27, the road will be closed between Stockton and the Leominster Bypass roundabout.
The A49 between Leominster and Holmer will also be closed between January 28 and January 31, and between Hope under Dinmore and Holmer from February 3 to March 19.
Access to frontages that fall directly within the closures will be maintained by an escort service provided by on-site traffic management operatives.
