Councillor Tom Bounds has already been permitted to have a six month absence as he deals with ill health.

But at a town council meeting this week, town clerk Liz Kelso said Councillor Bounds is about to have a cataract operation and can’t drive at the moment as a result of his poor vision.

She said members could give him an extension on his leave although Councillor Bounds hopes to be back at the council fairly shortly.

Members agreed to give Councillor Bounds an extra six month leave of absence.

Meanwhile, members were told there are currently two vacancies on the council.

Ms Kelso said the vacancies have been advertised and no valid request has been received by the Elections Office at Herefordshire Council so the town council is now free to fill the vacancy.

She said further notices have now been placed on notice boards and the town council website.

She added if any member knows of any individual interested in the roles to contact the clerk as some checks are required before they can present themselves for co-option.
