Newport football team nets cast for charity campaign

A range of charities are set to benefit thanks to an ongoing partnership between Harper Adams University, its Students’ Union, and a local football team.

Newport’s Nova Utd marked their winter training season with a donation to Harper Adams Students’ Union RAG committee, showing their appreciation for being allowed the use of the university’s pitches over the past year.

Nova United coach, David Nuttall, who also heads up catering and retail at the university, said: “Newport’s Nova United Football club has a long-standing relationship with Harper Adams University, which helps young aspiring footballers to keep active all the way through winter.”

He thanked the committee for enabling young Nova footballers to train throughout the winter months, and handed a cheque for £650 to HASU RAG representatives following the training session.

The funds raised will be split between a range of charities being supported by the RAG fund. 

Nova Utd`s vice-chair Mark Hyland added: “The facilities at Harper Adams University are invaluable to enable over 100 children to continue to train throughout the winter and early spring periods."
