Danny Francis, aged 28, is accused of causing the death of 17-year-old Ben Worrall and seriously injuring his friend Nathan Fountain by dangerous driving.
He also faces a charge of causing death by driving without due care while over the prescribed alcohol limit.
Francis’ grey Range Rover Sport was involved in a crash with a group of motorbikes shortly after midnight on Sunday, October 1, last year on the A458 between Rowton junction and Cardeston Park, near Shrewsbury.
Several family members and friends of Mr Worrall were in attendance at Telford Magistrates Court including his dad Mark, who clung to his late son’s teddy bear in the public gallery.
Mr Fountain, who Francis is accused of seriously injuring, arrived in the courtroom in a wheelchair.
