Police shared an image of a motorcyclist after a report that an off-road bike had been "speeding around" the pedestrianised area of Hadley centre and had narrowly missed a pram carrying two newborn babies.

In the appeal, PC Rob Hughes of Hadley and Leegomery Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "The motorcycle was speeding around Hadley Centre and came across the fly-over bridge, it then left up Manor Road towards the Hadley Learning Community.

"The centre was busy with pedestrians and he narrowly missed a twin buggy with newborn babies in it.

"I know some people think that riding an off-road motorcycle is just kids having fun, however someone will get hurt and the injuries can be life-changing. There are places to ride and clubs that support off-road motorcycling."

In an update on Thursday, PC Hughes said the rider had been located, warned and "educated".

He said: "We recently reported an unidentified male was riding an off-road motorcycle in Hadley Centre, we have located the male and have issued a section 59 warning to him.

"This will be placed on record for 12 months. He had informed us he has now sold the motorcycle.

"We also provided free education as to why the actions of riding a motorcycle in a public place was wrong, sometimes the obvious is not so obvious."
