A replacement defibrillator has been bought for Kington town centre and an additional piece of life-saving equipment and a cabinet has been purchased for Headbrook.

The equipment at the Market Hall stopped working a couple of months ago and was too old to be repaired.

The town council gave the clerk authority to spend up to £3,760 for the equipment but town clerk Liz Kelso said the total cost was £1,845.

Mrs Kelso said: “The unit for the Masonic Hall at Headbrook will need to be installed and discussions are taking place to facilitate this.”

Councillor Nicki Cornish asked for the equipment at that end of town after her friend and neighbour had a sudden heart attack and passed away despite efforts to save their life. She said that incident was a year ago.

Kington Mayor Councillor Phillip Sell said: “Its money well spent if it saves just one person.”
