Work is currently underway to construct a brand new, four-storey building at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

As part of the work, Friday, December 6 will see the introduction of a one-way traffic system on parts of the site to help manage the flow of increased construction traffic.

Under the new layout, vehicles entering the site from the roundabout at Mytton Oak Road will be able to travel to and from the ward block, and still exit via the roundabout.

This will support rapid access for ambulances and people using the Emergency Department. After the ward block, the site will become one-way.

This means any vehicles travelling beyond the ward block will need to exit the site via Evolution Road and turn left.

Visitors parking in car parks 0 and 1 will be able to enter and exit from Mytton Oak Road. If visitors are parking in car park 2 or 3, they will enter from Mytton Oak Road and exit from Evolution Road.

The exit from Evolution Road will be left turn only to alleviate traffic congestion during peak times. The exit onto Racecourse Lane from Evolution Road will remain in use between the hours of 4pm and 6.30pm on weekdays.

Pedestrian access will not be affected and will be maintained throughout.

In preparation for the new system, overnight lining works will take place on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
