Crown court judge Paul Glenn accepted that Lewis Wilkins had 'panicked' when he was followed by police in Telford at just after midnight on September 17, 2024.
“He looks terrified and he should be,” said Judge Glenn as Wilkins, a bar worker from Church Croft in Lawley Village appeared before him at Shrewsbury Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday.
“It was a ludicrous piece of driving. I hope you now realise it is a matter of pure good fate that no one was hurt that night, or worse.”
Wilkins had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving in Holyhead Road, Telford, and of having no licence, no insurance, and failing to stop at Telford Magistrates Court on October 15.
The judge gave Wilkins credit for his previous good character and for having the “sense” to plead guilty.
