The annual carol singalong regularly attracts hundreds of people into the town centre, and this year local insurance broker Howden Shrewsbury is getting into the Christmas spirit by handing out free refreshments.

The team will be offering mulled wine (and non-alcoholic alternatives) and mince pies from the High Street branch office during the event, which takes place on December 18 from 6pm.

Branch manager, Ellie Cole, said the firm was keen to support the event which was a big part of the town’s festive build-up.

She said: “We love being part of Shrewsbury town centre and always look to supporting community events that bring people into the town.

“Carols in The Square is a staple local event during the Christmas season, and we wanted to do our bit to help people enjoy themselves - and keep warm on what is usually a rather chilly evening!

“We’ll be keeping our branch open into the evening, handing out free mince pies and mulled wine, so you’ll be able to grab a festive treat on your way to The Square.”
