Watch what shoppers have to say after Shrewsbury attracts national praise
There's a palpable look of beaming pride in the faces of Shropshire folk after the county town was named as having the best high street in the country.
Shrewsbury was recently highlighted by travel experts in The Telegraph as among the very best places for Christmas shopping in the country - with Wyle Cop attracting high praise.
Locals were brimming with pride at the suggestion that Wyle Cop is therefore the best shopping street of the lot.
Angela Wilson, from the county town, says the curving, climbing high street reminds her of “how Shrewsbury used to be.”
“I don't think they need to do anything to improve it, I think it should be left how it is.”
Sian Hurmson, from Much Wenlock, says she likes Wyle Cop so much that she starts off at one end and pops in to all the shops on the way up the hill.
“The shops are vibrant and so different. I think they should keep it the same.”
